Need Help at the Library? You Can Now 'Book a Librarian'

Edmonds Library also announces new Friends of the Library president and advertises for new board member.

If you think you might some help navigating the constant changes at the , including the new Polaris online library catalog, you can now request an appointment to “Book a Librarian.”

"We will schedule a librarian to work the customer for about 30-45 minutes to get them some tailored assistance," said Lesly Kaplan, managing librarian. "It ranges from technology issues, such as setting up an e-mail or some basic computer assistance, to learning more about using library resources for job finding, or just learning more about library resources in general."

Kaplan says the library started the program to help people learn more so they are comfortable using the library for their information needs.

"It’s a great program," she said, "and so far we have had many happy customers who just needed a little extra personalized help that made them more confident and able to reach their information goals."

New board member sought

The Edmonds Library Board is currently seeking a new member. Board meetings are held at the Edmonds Library Conference Room the third Monday of every other month at 6 p.m.

Citizen Board applications are available at City Hall, 121 Fifth Ave N., or at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St.

Friends of the Edmonds Library

The new president for is Judith Works. In addition to to supporting the library with funds gathered from the in October and the inside the library, the nonprofit group uses the library as a gathering place for education, meetings, reading, cultural and outreach programs for all ages.
