Your Guide to the 56th Annual Edmonds Art Festival, June 14-16

Here's all you need to know about one of biggest art weekends of the year.

The 56th Annual Edmonds Arts Festival kicks off at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14 and runs through Sunday evening June 16. The Festival is geared toward all ages and includes art, entertainment, food vendors, a Student Art Exhibit and Kids’ Creative Corner.

There is no admission charge for this popular three-day event.

ART
More than 240 artist-exhibitors display and sell fine arts and crafts on the grassy field East of the Frances Anderson Center and on the Plaza above the Edmonds Library. Skilled artists from the Western states and Canada are carefully selected in mediums including jewelry, painting, photography, ceramics, glassblowing, and more.

Inside the Center, three galleries showcase juried fine art and artisans’ works from more than 200 artists. All art inside the galleries is offered for sale.

The Edmonds Arts Festival is one of the pioneers in displaying the work of student artists with an exhibit of more than 1,000 pieces of art from K-12 students residing within the boundaries of the Edmonds School District. The Student Art Exhibit in located on the lower level of the Center.

MUSIC
On the Amphitheater Main Stage, local and nationally-recognized youth performing groups including Clayton Productions from Sandy, Utah, the Meadowdale Middle Schools Choirs and Jazz Choir and the Edmonds-Woodway High School Jazz Ensemble I will perform.

Local bands including The Spyrographs, The Side Project, Easy Company and the Stacy Jones Band present a wide array of musical genres.

FOOD
Then there's the food. Joining popular returning vendors Scotty’s Northwest, Biringer Farm and Kaleenkas Piroshky are four that are new to the Festival this year. Taste flavored popcorns, corndogs from around the world, Monte Cristo sandwiches, and soups. There will also be dessert wonders such as deep fried Twinkies served with strawberries!

FOR KIDS
Kids’ Creative Corner will have a great array of artists making fine art with the children including Joan Engelmeyer, Seattle artist and owner/teacher of City Art Farm for kids. Projects that will be offered include bird houses, reticulated movable figures, zines, ATCs (Artist Trading Cards), artist’s books; and more. Engelmeyer will also be assisting participants in chalk drawings.

Tangerine Tales will offer face paintings for sale on Friday from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Meadowdale Elementary Marimba Band, will perform on June 14 at 11:30 a.m.

All day Saturday and Sunday the PCC Kid Picks Mobile will be in Kids’ Creative Corner. PCC Kid Picks is a unique product-sampling program that allows kids to taste and discover for themselves that natural and organic foods taste great.

FESTIVAL POSTER
Returning this year is the popular Festival poster featuring the colorful painting of the ferry and poppies by Gig Harbor artist Kate Larsson. She will display her work inside the Center in the Museum Gallery and will be in booth 321-322 on the field. Festival posters are for sale in the Festival Store for $20 for the large 20 x 24 poster and $10 for the 11 x 14 size. Tiles, coasters and cards featuring the image and T-shirts, jackets and other Festival logo items will also be sold.

PARKING
Free shuttle parking for the Festival is available at the old Woodway High School site, 23200 100th Ave. West, Edmonds and at the Port of Edmonds on Admiral Way. See website for directions and maps. A shuttle will also meet the 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. (approx.) ferries to take walk on passengers directly to the Festival site. Handicapped parking is limited, but available on the perimeter of the festival along Main or Dayton Streets and also in the library parking lot. The shuttles are busses or vans and are not wheelchair accessible.

PETS
The Festival is held in a city park and per Municipal Code 5.05.060, only service animals are allowed on Festival grounds.
