Edmonds Petanque Club Announces Winners from June 10 Tournament

Dick Van Hollebeke's team wins third place. Meanwhile, club's second annual fundraiser to benefit the Edmonds Food Bank is in August .

The June 10 Edmonds Petanque Tournament at the Civic Playfield was a great success, reports Chris Guitton.

"There was great weather, great company and great food donated by Panera Bread," he said.

  • 1st Place: Lee Harris and Manh Pham (Seattle Petanque Club)
  • 2nd: Lisa Geraud and Gary Bigham (Seattle Petanque Club)
  • 3rd: John  Hunt (Seattle Petanque Club) and Dick Van Hollebeke (Edmonds Petanque Club)
  • 4th: Bob Mazelow (Port Townsend) and Rick Fuson (Seattle Petanque Club)

The tournament was made possible with the sponsorships given to Club by the McDevitt Family, Ron and Michelle Clyborne, The Interiors of Edmonds, The Cheesemonger’s Table and The Waterfront Coffee Co.

The June 10 tournament raised $182.49 for the club, as well as business ponsorships of $1,200.

Guitton says these funds will be applied to equipment purchases for the club and for equipment donations to nonprofit organizations, as well as club operations and the building of more petanque courts in the near future.

The Edmonds Petanque Club's upcoming Aug. 5 tournament will be a fundraiser to benefit the Edmonds Food Bank.
