North Sound SeaWolves FC Sign Three Huskies

The soccer team also resigns four players from last year, including Claudio Lazar and Abdul Aman.

The Edmonds-based North Sound SeaWolves FC has signed three members of the University of Washington men’s soccer team for the 2012 season.

Forward Quinton Beasley (Camas), defender Michael Harris (Shoreline) and midfielder Patrick Pacheco (Taos, NM) will join the SeaWolves for the upcoming Premier Development League season.

“Any time you can get players from top NCAA Division I programs, it’s a great thing,” SeaWolves coach/owner Alex Silva said. “All three of these guys are talented, know how to win, have great experience and are excited to join our team. They definitely make us better.”

Beasley (Tacoma Tide) and Harris (Washington Crossfire) have experience playing in the PDL, while Pacheco recently transferred to Washington from the University of New Mexico, which was ranked No. 1 in the nation in 2011.

Beasley scored three goals and had two assists for the Huskies, who finished 12-4-2 this past season and was ranked in the NCAA top-20. He scored twice for the Tacoma Tide during the 2011 PDL season.

“Quinton is a really talented scorer, a very good offensive player,” Silva said. “He knows how to be successful in the PDL, has a passion for the game and will fit in great.”

Harris had a goal and two assists as a starting defender for the Huskies. He had three assists and was second on the team in minutes played for the Crossfire in 2011. Harris is a former all-state player at Shorecrest High School.

“Michael is well known to soccer fans in that area and he’s also an athletic, talented defender," Silva said. "He can get forward but he’s also a strong, physical defender who will help our backline.”

Pacheco played in 13 games as a reserve for the Lobos, who went 18-0-4 in 2011, falling on penalty kicks in the third round of the NCAA tournament. He had one goal and an assist for New Mexico. Pacheco is the all-time leading scorer at Taos High School.

“Patrick is a talented offensive player, a good scorer with a lot of energy,” Silva said. “He’s another great weapon for us to have for our attack.”

Beasley, Harris and Pacheco join a fourth Husky, Abdul Aman, on the SeaWolves’ roster. Aman played for the SeaWolves last year.

The North Sound SeaWolves FC also announced that it has re-signed several players from its inaugural 2011 team, including popular goalkeeper Claudio Lazar. Also rejoining the SeaWolves for the 2012 season are midfielders Arturo Brambila, Mohamed Mohamud and the Seattle University trio of Marshall Kosaka, Brady Ballew and Kevin Cook.

The Edmonds-based North Sound SeaWolves play in the Northwest Division of the PDL, the highest level of amateur soccer in the United States. Their 16-game season begins May 20 at Fraser Valley.
