Edmonds-Woodway Opens Playoffs Tonight at Home Against South Kitsap

Warriors are led by running back Desmond Young, who last week went over 1,000 yards for the season.

The Edmonds-Woodway High School football team, after an up-and-down season, play South Kitsap High School of Port Orchard tonight at 7:30 in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The game will be played at Edmonds Stadium on the E-W campus.

The Warriors finished the season 5-4. After losing its first three game, the Warriors roared back to life with five wins before losing last week to Lake Stevens, 35-31, in the Wesco championship game.

The Warriors are coached by John Gradwohl and are lead by junior running back Desmond Young, who last week rushed for 291 yards while scoring three touchdowns. Young has now rushed for 1,045 yards this season.

The South Kitsap Wolves, who play in the Narrows 4A league, finished the season 6-3 and won its last three games. The Wolves average 29.6 points a game, while giving up an average of 22.9. The team is coached by D.J. Sigurdson.
