Warriors, Mavs Win Season Openers

Edmonds-Woodway beats Everett; Meadowdale beats Kamiak.

Edmonds-Woodway's John Gradwohl celebrated the first game of his 15th year as head football coach with a 42-14 drubbing of Everett High School at Edmonds Stadium.

Senior running back Desmond Young scored on runs of 40 and 6 yards as the Warriors built up a 35-0 halftime lead.

Also scoring in the game for the Warriors were Junior Opoku-Mensah on an 8-yard-run and Matt Cuzzetto on a 4-yard-pass from quarterback Davis Giles. Giles also scored on a 2-yard-run, while Jacob Roling caught a 56-yard TD pass from Nick Morales.

Senior kicker Connor Davis made all six extra points for E-W.

Also at Edmonds Stadium, Meadowdale beat Kamiak 28-18. Giavani Shepard scored on runs of 57 and 51 yards. Also scoring on runs were Morgan Masanda (91 yards) and Chace Diemond (11 yards).
