Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Ryan DeWeese, Wrestling State Champion

Edmonds-Woodway wrestler becomes first from school to win state title in more than 20 years.

Name: Ryan DeWeese, 18.

School: Edmonds-Woodway High School

Accomplishments: Ryan, a senior, became the first wrester from Edmonds-Woodway to win a state title since Marcus Requa in 1989, who was in attendance at the Tacoma Dome to see the school's second champion in the last 22 years. DeWeese, who was ranked No. 3 in the 130-pound division, won 19-6 in the championship match over Clint Powers of Skyview to complete his title run.
