Eric, who plays the trumpet, was one of 20 musicians selected to perform in the All-National Honor Jazz Band. This ensemble will perform in a concert with the U.S. Army Blues during MENC's Music Education Week in June.
In 2009, Eric attended Centrum Jazz Camp in Port Townsend. It was there that he got to play with musicians Terell Stafford and Gilbert Castellanos. That experience inspired him to put in many more hours of practice, which paid off with his recent honor.
This is part of a weekly feature, Whiz Kid. We want to pick out an outstanding Edmonds kid, youth group, teen, or sports team to profile each week.
