Meadowdale High Orchestra Joining Classical Musician Friday in Edmonds

Classical pianist Alpin Hong is on tap at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.

Classical pianist Alpin Hong will be joined by student musicians from Meadowdale High School when he performs Friday at the .

Hong is a native of Michigan and made his orchestral debut with the Kalamazoo Symphony at age 10. He moved to Los Angeles soon after and garnered competition victories at a young age with wins at the 1989 Stravinsky Piano Competition, the 1993 SYMF Competition and the 1994 Los Angeles Spotlight Awards Competition.

He completed his master’s degree as a student of Jerome Lowenthal at the Juilliard School.

Alpin’s history as a musical child prodigy, and his uniquely humorous and visionary approach to arts education, which he will be sharing with the Meadowdale High School Orchestras, make compelling stories during this time when arts and arts education remain important learning tools for students.

Alpin Hong perfroms Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N, Edmonds. Tickets are available online at www.ec4arts.org or by phone at 425-275-9595. Tickets are $25-$30, $15 for youth.
