Lifeguard Saves Student From Bottom of Pool
Classmates said the special needs student may have hit his head when he jumped off the diving board.
A special needs student at Lake Stevens High School was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he nearly drowned in gym class Friday, Q13FOX reported.
After a teacher noticed the student was missing, the pool manager, a trained lifeguard, saw him at the bottom of the pool and acted fast.
“She did an emergency response, pulled him out and performed CPR,” said school district spokeswoman Jaymie Taylor.
Fire officials revived the student and transported him to Providence Hospital in Everett in critical condition, according to KIRO 7 TV.
Classmates said he may have hit his head when he jumped off the diving board.
“I heard that he was diving and he landed wrong on his neck,” said student Lorraina Perkins.
