Edmonds Family Fitness and Health Fair Is Today at Chase Lake Elementary

The free event is from 6 to 8 p.m.

Designed to encourage families to make wellness a priority in 2012, the Edmonds Family Fitness and Health Fair will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at , 21603 84th Ave. W.

Hosted by the Chase Lake PTSA, the free event will provide the community with resources, information and health screenings, as well as showcase activities that the whole family can do together.

Participants will be encouraged to have their “Passport to Wellness” stamped as they participate in various activities and visit exhibits throughout the Chase Lake commons and gymnasium. Once their passport is complete, it becomes a ballot that can be entered to win one of many wellness-themed prizes donated by national and local companies.

The Edmonds Family Fitness and Health Fair will include vision and blood pressure screening, limited oral exam and student immunization confirmation provided by Community Health Center of Snohomish County; a “Prescription for Exercise” booth staffed by Birth & Family Clinic physicians from Swedish/Edmonds; and healthy snacks from PCC Natural Markets and their Kids Pick Snack Bus.

Bindi Yoga & Zumba will have a Zumba class and the Seattle Seahawks will host a bean bag toss.

Activities and information will also be provided by the City of Edmonds Parks and Recreation, Community Health Plan of Washington, Girlshealth.gov, Honest Tea, Hope Heart, Pop Chips, Premera Blue Cross, and the Sno-King Youth Club
