E-W Fall Sports Team Begin Season Today and This Week

The Warriors football team has already debuted. Now it's time for volleyball, soccer, tennis and swimming.

Wednesday marks the first day of school for students in the Edmonds School District, but fall sports action officially begins today.

The has already played one game, a to Monroe on Friday, but it’s opening day and week for the rest of school’s sports teams.

Here’s what on tap: boys’ and girls’ cross country, girls’ soccer, boys’ tennis, and volleyball. Schedules are published at the Wesco Athletics website.

Volleyball: Nicole Bordeaux is the coach for the second year, replacing longtime coach Mike Pettis. The Warriors, who finished 5-10 last year, open at home today at 7 p.m. against Woodinville. The JV team, coached by Kirsten Mann, plays at 5:15 p.m., as does the C team, coached by Sara Waske.

Girls’ soccer: Head coach Bill LeCompte’s team plays its first game today at 7:30 p.m. at Redmond High School. The JV team, under coach Tony Gilman, plays at 5:30 p.m.

Girls’ swim: The team is led by coach Kate Trettevik and assistant Jordan Rice. The team is at a jamboree today at 3:15 p.m. at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo.

Boys’ tennis: The team, coached by Dan Crist, opens today at 3:30 p.m. at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore. The JV squad, coached by Drew Prichard, takes to the courts at the same time.
