E-Dub Beats Mariner, 31-27, For First Win; Meadowdale Beats Terrace

Warriors now 1-3 overall. Meadowdale goes to 4-0 with big win over Mountlake Terrace.

The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors scored their first victory of the football season with a 31-27 Wesco South victory over Mariner at Edmonds Stadium.

Warriors running Desmond Young gained 198 yards on 30 carries, outdueling highly touted KeiVare Russell of Mariner. Russell, one of top ranked running backs is the state, carried the ball 26 times for 133 yards. He scored two touchdowns on short runs from inside the 5.

Young scored four touchdowns for E-W, on runs of 7, 8, 2 and 4 yards.

The Warriors, bouncing back from a 27-7 loss to Meadowdale, are 1-3, but are 1-0 in Wesco 4A South Division play. Mariner is 2-2, 0-1 in league.

E-W's next game is Friday against Jackson High School at Mill Creek.

The Meadowdale Mavericks, meanwhile, continued their impressive play this season with a 36-5 drubbing of Wesco 3A rival Mountlake Terrace.

The Mav's sparkling running back duo of Kyle Newsom and Giavani Shepared scored five touchdowns, Newsom running for three and Shepard for two. 

Meadowdale is 4-0 overall, 3-0 in league. They play Glacier Peak next Friday at Edmonds Stadium.
