Chef Greg Atkinson Works with Lynnwood Students

Lynnwood High School culinary students had the chance to prepare a salmon lunch with local chef Greg Atkinson last Friday.

Local chef, author, and teacher Greg Atkinson worked with Lynnwood High School culinary arts students last Friday to cook 200 salmon meals.

The students were preparing the food for the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation Luncheon, called “A Recipe for Success!” The meal included numerous recipes from Atkinson's book, Northwest Essentials: Cooking with Ingredients That Define a Region’s Cuisine. Atkinson and the students made baked salmon with watercress and dill sauce served over mixed greens and tomato salad, rosemary flatbread, fennel limeade, and Northwest apple crisp.

At the luncheon, Snohomish County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Adam Cornell served as the honorary guest speaker. Cedar Way Elementary School student Lukas Malins told the audience about how the Wings to Reading program, which received a grant this year, has helped him learn to love reading. Joanna Cienfuegos, who is a student at Edmonds-Woodway High, performed the Mexican Hat Dance for the guests.
