13 Named 'Students of the Month' for March by Edmonds School District

The Edmonds School District is is recognizing the achievements of 13 high school this month, selected by teachers.


Thirteen high school students have been recognized for their achievements by the Edmonds School District, being voted by teachers as Students of the Month for March.

They include:

  • eLearning student Ryan Clemens, who wants to become an ornithologist and is working toward his Eagle Scout Award.
  • Edmonds Heights student Monique Woodward,who plays many sports and wants to beam a firefighter.
  • Edmonds Heights student Jennifer Haney,who ha sheen involved in musical theater for nine years, plan to attend Calvin College in the fall of 2013 and wants to be a mechanical engineer.
  • Edmonds-Woodway's Alyssa Garcia, who dreams of becoming an environmental journalist and plays varsity golf.
  • Edmonds-Woodway's Lauren Nguyen, a senior class vice president who wants to become a pediatrician.
  • Lynnwood High student Arsenia Ivanov, who plays varsity tennis, volleyball and basketball and plans on attending a four-year college.
  • Lynnwood High's Matthew Heinekin, who plays baseball, soccer, practices Tae Kwon Do and wants to become a doctor.
  • Meadowdale High student Morgan Smith, a four-year varsity wrestling letterman who wants to become a businessman after attending Simon Fraser University.
  • Meadowdale's Taylor Caulk, a state champion cheerleader who wants to get a nursing degrees and go on to establish more health care facilities in developing countries.
  • Mountlake Terrace High's Shawn Evensen, an all Wesco Honorable Mention and Special Teams Player of the Year in football.
  • Mountlake Terrace's Grace Gil, senior class president who wants to become a high school English teacher or counselor.
  • Scriber Lake High's Matthew Steele, who loves hiking and the outdoors and wants a career in the outdoors.
  • Scriber Lake's Cherokee Thornton, who has earned Academic Achievement Awards for English, Algebra, Biology, Geometry, World Civilizations and Health, wants to work with animals and plan to attend Shoreline Community College next fall.
