A New Look for Edmonds? Waterfront Antique Mall Up for Auction March 23

It's no surprise that there are many in Edmonds who want to see the redevelopment of the .

That process may begin as early as today as the entire 4.3-acre Antique Mall property, bordered by Edmonds Way, Railroad Avenue and Dayton and Main streets, goes up for auction at 10 a.m. on the north steps of the Snohomish County Courthouse in Everett.

It's available to the highest bidder. The trustee sale is being handled by Hacker & Willig of Seattle.

The owner of the property, for more than a quarter century, is Al Dykes of Edmonds Shopping Center Associates of Seattle. There is currently more than $193,000 past due on property taxes, records show.

The site was formerly home to Safeway, which owned the property.

. In an interview in November after being elected, Earling talked about projections for a new look down by the water beginning with Harbor Square:

“We could then do the same kind of proactive development moving from the antique mall moving up towards the ferry dock,” he said. “We have some real assets along the waterfront, and the whole area truly is undeveloped. And if we’re looking for new sources of revenue, which is going to have to be top of the list, there’s real potential for additional revenue there. We have to find interested parties who want to invest and develop property there.”

Among the businesses at the Waterfront Antique Mall, including the mall of course, are the Channel Marker, Evivva Woodfired Pizza, Waterfront Sports and Physical Therapy, The Spanish Class Cafe, Jade Palace and Maytag Laundry.
