Video, Pictures: Construction on Main Street in Edmonds

Pedestrian access signs now posted.

Update from the City of Edmonds: Pedestrian access signs have been made by the City's Public Works department and posted on the north and south edges of fences located at the west and east ends of the Main Street project. In addition, business open signs have been posted on near Dayton Street for those traveling northbound on Fifth Avenue South and on Fifth Avenue North near City Hall for those driving southbound along Fifth.

Parking is a little tighter in downtown Edmonds these days, and you know why.

has taken away a lot of prime parking space, and it will remain that way through at least Nov. 16, says the city's Public Works department.

Additional public parking can be found one block north at the Public Safety Complex on the corner of Fifth Avenue South and Bell Street.

Businesses on that stretch of Main are still open during construction, and sidewalks on both sides of the street are passable for walkers and shoppers.

Pedestrian and business friendly improvements include wider sidewalks, improved street lighting, a midblock crossing, new landscaping and artwork.
