The I-5 Skagit River Bridge will have its new permanent span installed this weekend, with the bridge closed and detours in place from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, according to the Washington Department of Transportation. Starting Monday, overnight lane closures and detours will start as crews retrofit the existing overhead bridge supports. You can keep up-to-date on those closures at the Skagit County Construction Update page.

A section of that bridge collapsed Thursday, May 23, dumping several cars and three people into the river.
