Shorewood Students Robbed at Gunpoint

Shoreline police pursue suspects on foot, make arrests.

Two men robbed three Shorewood High School students at gunpoint Friday morning as they walked to school, causing a lockdown at the Shoreline school and a foot pursuit as officers chased down the suspects, KOMO-TV reported.

Both suspects have now been caught, and the lockdown has ended without any injuries, said Katie Larson of the King County Sheriff's Office told KOMO.

The incident unfolded as students were headed to morning classes at the high school, Larson said.

Larson said three of those students, a boy and two girls, were near the school when they were confronted by two men who robbed the teens of their iPods and their backpacks. One of the suspects was armed with a gun, Larson said.

When the school resource officer, Rob Bardsley, learned of the robberies, he called 911, and officers were on scene almost immediately.

Officers chased after the two suspects on foot and caught one of them, but the one with the gun ran away.

Police placed the school on lockdown as deputies brought in K-9 police dogs and set up a perimeter around the area as they searched for the second suspect.

The second suspect was soon found at a nearby apartment complex. He was also captured following a short foot chase, Larson said.

None of the students were injured.
