Picnic Point Explosion: Cause Expected Later Today or Tomorrow

Fire Marshal's Office is on the scene.

The office of Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon has issued an update on today's treatment explosion at the Picnic Point Wastewater Treatment Plant in unicorporated Snohomish County north of Edmonds:

Snohomish County's response has been limited, but is available where needed. Investigators from the Fire Marshal's Office are on scene but do not expect to have a cause of the explosion until later today or tomorrow. Public Works staff has sign workers in place at Maplewood Road and 136h Place SW, providing signage and traffic control for emergency services personnel. That is being coordinated with the Sheriff's Office.
