Olympic View Water District Passes State Audit for the Eighth Time in a Row

The district serves about 4,700 customers in Edmonds, Woodway and neighboring unincorporated portions of Snohomish County.

A regularly scheduled state audit of Olympic View Water and Sewage District found that the district’s internal controls were adequate to safeguard public assets.

The report, which looked at the time period between Jan. 1, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2010, also found that Olympic View complied with state laws and regulations, as well as its own policies and procedures, in the areas that the state audit examined.

Areas examined were low-income rate deductions; account adjustments; travel reimbursements; accounts payable-maintenance fund; and bid law compliance.

An audit of Olympic View’s financials found no deficiencies in reporting and compliance.

The district is audited every two years. The state auditor’s office has not reported any deficient findings in the last eight audits.

The Olympic View Water and Sewer District was incorporated in 1937. It serves about 4,700 customers in Edmonds, Woodway and neighboring unincorporated portions of Snohomish County.

The district’s budgeted operating expenses for fiscal years 2009 and 2010 were $3,715,812 and $3,164,259, respectively.
