Mayor Cooper Elected Chair of Fire Authority Planning Committee

The Edmonds mayor will lead the new Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee.

Edmonds Mayor Mike Cooper will serve as chair of the brand new Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee.

Cooper was elected by his colleagues to head the committee during the group's first meeting on March 29th.

“I am honored and humbled to be chosen by my peers to lead this effort,” Cooper said.

Mountlake Terrace Mayor Jerry Smith was elected vice chair.

The planning committee has 27 members and includes representatives from Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Woodway, and Fire District’s 1 and 7. The group will spend the next few months discussing the idea of a regional fire department, and whether it would provide the best fire and medical service possible.
