Lynnwood Council Boots Former Edmonds Mayoral Assistant

Kimberly Cole missed too many meetings, council says.

Kimberly Cole, the former executive assistant to former Edmonds Mayor Mike Cooper, has been kicked off the Lynnwood City Council.

The Herald reports that the decision was made after Cole missed at least 18 council meetings and work sessions.

It was in September that Cole quit her position as executive assistant less than six weeks before Cooper eventually lost his job to current Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling.

Cooper appointed Cole to the position in July 2010. Cole held that job at the same time that she was a member of the Lynnwood City Council, where she was appointed to postion No. 1 in November 2009. Her term was due to expire in December 2013.

In her resignation, Cole cited a hostile work environment created by certain employees of the city of Edmonds, including former Human Resources Director Debi Humann. Humann has questioned Cole's work attendance.

Cooper fired Humann on the same day that Cole turned in her resignation.

Cole later filed a claim against the City of Edmonds, but an independent investigtor found that most of the claims were unwarranted, the Herald reports.
