The position became available with the . The position will be filled by a vote from the council.

The list includes former councilman Steve Bernheim, for his Postion No. 6 seat. That seat was won by Frank Yamamoto.

The new councilmember's terms will run through 2013, when Plunkett's Position No. 1 term expires.
