The City Council is seeking applicants interested in serving on the City of Edmonds' Economic Development Commission.
The purpose of the commission is to address specific issues related to economic development. It is responsible for helping identify new sources of revenue as a direct result of economic development projects; setting new strategies for economic development; and providing recommendations regarding strategies for economic development and other matters that will improve commercial viability, tourist development and activity for consideration by the Edmonds City Council.
In addition to its other duties, the commission will work in conjunction with the planning board to review and consider economic development strategies.
Commissioner terms shall be staggered such that all members of the commission as of Dec. 31, 2011, shall have their terms expire on December 31, 2012.
All new members appointed in 2012 shall have their terms expire on Dec. 31, 2014. All members appointed during 2013 or later shall have their terms expire on Dec. 31, 2015.
City Council members may appoint up to two members each and the mayor may appoint up to three members (commission members must reside within Edmonds city limits). Meetings of the commission are held on the third Wednesday evening of each month.
