Gov. Christie to Stump for McKenna in Lynnwood

You can meet the New Jersey politician by volunteering 10 hours.

Want to meet New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who spoke at the Repulican National Convention?

Christie will be the featured speaker Nov. 4 at a fundraising event for gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna at Embassy Suites in Lynnwood.

According to McKenna's Web site, you can meet Christie and have a picture taken with him after volunteering 10 hours at the Everett "Victory Office," 122 128th St. SE.

You will then automatically be given a chance to win one of four available tickets to attend the event with Gov. Christie.

You must complete all 10 volunteer hours by Oct. 2.

Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling has endorsed McKenna in his race against Congressman Jay Inslee.

McKenna has posted a video of the endorsement on his Web site, which you can view on YouTube.

Everyone knows that an egg hunt is an Easter event whether it's called that or not. Everyone know that a holiday tree is really a Christmas tree. Trust me, the atheists and/or non-Christians are not trying to destroy Christianity. First, it would be impossible. Second, it would be too dangerous to us personally. Last, I personally respect other's traditions, but I'm not sure the same can always be said in reverse.

Secondly, the Easter bunny…Read More and egg hunt has no historical religious significance that I can think of, even though this is part of an American tradition. I am good with deleting the word Easter, and would like to see a departure from any emphasis on candy, which only compounds the diabetic epidemic in this country. Sometimes it is good to rethink the wisdom of something simply because it is a "tradition".
