Edmonds Newsletter Is Back—In Digital Form Only

"Update on Edmonds" can be viewed on the City's Web site, on iPads and through smartphones.

Good news for news junkies and Edmonds fans.

"Update on Edmonds," a newsletter published by the City of Edmonds, is back after a two-year absence. Alas, not in hard-copy form. The newsletter, started in 2006 by former Mayor Gary Haakenson, switched to digital format in January 2009 but was discontinued the next year.

So instead of being mailed to local addresses, it is available in digital formats only.

In a news release announcing the return, the City says Mayor Dave Earling wanted the newsletter back to enhance communication between the community and city.

The new version is Web-based, with formats not only for the computer, but iPads and smartphones as well. The project was spearheaded by the Mayor’s executive sssistant, Carolyn LaFave, and chief information officer Carl Nelson.

"It will a great opportunity for the City to stay in touch with the community,” said Earling.

The newsletter will be issued quarterly, with the first edition, “Summer 2012,” available now. Quarterly newsletter notices will be sent by e-mail to more 11,000 recipients.

Those who want on the mailing list can subscribe on the site, e-mail LaFave or call 425-771-0247.

The newsletter can also be viewed on the City’s Website by going to the News/Announcement tab at the bottom of the homepage. Archives can also be viewed.
