Cultural Tourism Promotion 2013 Awards

The Edmonds Arts Commission is now accepting applications for Cultural Tourism Promotion contract awards from nonprofit arts and arts-related organizations that serve the citizens of Edmonds and attract visitors to Edmonds.

Up to $9,000 for promoting/advertising projects may be available for contracts awarded in early 2013. This money is allocated by City Council Resolution to the EAC from Lodging Tax Funds received by the City.

Generally no more than $2,000 is awarded to any one organization and awards are typically between $500 and $1500. The Arts Commission is not obligated to allocate all of the budgeted money available in any given year.

Promotion projects might include producing brochures, banners, posters, or other advertising and distribution of information on arts and culture events or activities for the purpose of attracting and welcoming visitors to Edmonds.

Any documentation you can provide that your arts project/program encourages tourism will enhance your eligibility. Contract recipients are required to document the number of visitors attracted by the project and the number of overnight stays associated with the project in a final report before they will be eligible for future funding.

The deadline for submitting applications is Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 5 p.m.

Applications must be submitted on the application forms provided at the Arts Office or by downloading them from www.edmondsartscommission.org (select Workshops and Grants/Tourism Promotion).

The Lodging Tax Awards Committee of the Commission reviews all applications.  Recommendations by the Committee are considered and will be acted upon at the Commission’s regular meeting in December, then submitted to City Council for final approval.  Applicants will be notified about contract awards by the end of February 2012.  Contract recipients will be required to submit a final report at the end of the year.  For further information or to receive an application form please contact the City Arts Office, 425-771-0228, chapin@ci.edmonds.wa.us
