City of Edmonds' New Finance Director Begins First Week of Work

Shawn Hunstock replaces Lorenzo Hines and interim finance director Jim Tarte.

The City of Edmonds has a new finance director.

Shawn Hunstock was formerly the finance director for the City of Tukwila and was also serving as the interim city administrator. 

Hunstock, who began in his new position on Monday, replaces Lorenzo Hines and interim finance director Jim Tarte. Hines is now finance director for the City of Lynnwood. Before Hines left Edmonds, according to My Edmonds News, Hines had run-ins with two councilmembers, Michael Plunkett and Diane Buckshnis, and even filed a discrimation complaint against them. An investigation by Seattle-based Summit Law Group concluded that no discrimination occurred.

Hunstock began his career with the City of Tukwila in September 2008. Previous to Tukwila, Hunstock was the assistant finance director for the City of Auburn. 

Hunstock has a master’s degree in taxation from Portland State University and a bachelor’s degree in cccounting from Western Washington University in Bellingham.

As spelled out on the city's website, Financial Services is primarily responsible for budget monitoring and the city's fiscal operations. Utility billing, payroll, accounts payable, and the city treasurer operate within the division.
