City Council Application Now Posted on Official Edmonds Web Site

The position, open because councilmember Michael Plunkett is leaving before his term expires, pays $600 a month.

The application for those interested in being Edmonds' next City Council member is now online on the city's official Web site.

Applications are also available at City Hall, 121 Fifth Ave. N., or in PDF format by e-mailing counciladmin@ci.edmonds.wa.us. You need to have Acrobat Reader on your computer to access this form.

after Edmonds City Councilman Michael Plunkett announced that his last day as councilmember is June 4. The new councilmember's terms run through 2013, when Plunkett's Position No. 1 term expires.

Plunkett's position will be filled by a vote from the council. The deadline for submitting applications is April 27 at 4:30 p.m. Interviews begin May 22, and Plunkett's replacement will be considered during the June 5 council meeting.

The City of Edmonds is a mayor/council form of government with regularly scheduled council meetings on each Tuesday evening. Councilmembers are elected for seven at-large positions and represent all citizens. The monthly salary for a councilmember is $600 per month and $50 per meeting to a maximum of 8 meetings per month or $1,000 in total.
