City Council Agenda: Swearing in New Members, Planning a Retreat

The council will also select a new president and president pro tem.

After taking a week off for the holidays, the Edmonds City Council returns to session on Tuesday and will be welcoming two new members.

Frank Yamamoto will be sworn in to position No. 6, a seat that became available when incumbent Steve Bernheim decided not to run again. Yamamoto beat challenger Alvin Rutledge in November's general election. , a store he owns on Main Street and Fourth Avenue North, in part to concentrate on council matters.

Also being sworn in will be Joan Bloom, who defeated incumbent D.J. Wilson for position No. 5.

The City Council will also name the new president and president pro tem for 2012. The current president is Councilman Strom Peterson.
