Cheap Treasure: 2013 Edmonds Historical Calendar Available for Preorder

The popularity of the 2012 calendar took Edmonds Historical Preservation Committee by surprise.

An historical calendar featuring cool pictures of old Edmonds will be back for 2013.

The overwhelming response to last year's Edmonds calendar, which was offered for free at locations around town, took everyone by surprise, said Larry Vogel, chair of the Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission.

"We were stunned by the excitement generated by the 2012 calendar," said  Vogel. "It was a beautiful piece, and demand quickly outstripped supply, leaving lots of folks disappointed."

Meg Keogh, a commissioner with the Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission, says she has received more than 1,500 orders already for the 2013 calendar and will be ordering 2,500 more.

The calendar will not be free this year, said Keogh, as the $5 cost is being used as the major fundraiser for the nonprofit commission.
