30th Annual Memorial Day Observance Today at Edmonds Cemetery

It's a day for remembering.

The 30th annual Memorial Day ceremony at Edmonds Memorial Cemetery is today.

The observance begins today at 11 a.m. at the cemetery at 100 Avenue West and 15th Street SW. It's about an hour long and will be held rain or shine. Sign language translation will be provided.

While parking inside the cemetery is for those with handicapped permits only, there is plenty of free parking along nearby streets. Seating is limited, and those attending are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs.

Taking part in the ceremony will be cemetery board member Dale Hoggins; U.S. Navy veteran Ervin Schmidt with Edmonds-Woodway High School senior Blaise Lamb; American Legion Post 66, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8870, Explorer Post 734, Girl Scout Troop 42093, Cub Pack 331 and the Washington National Guard; Mayor Dave Earling; Edmonds-Woodway senior Katarina Nguyen; and the Edmonds-Woodway Vocal Volunteers and brass quintet.

Visitors can walk around the cemetery grounds after the ceremony and take a self-guided tour using one of the cemetery's walking maps.

Refreshments will be served after the program by the Lynnwood Emblem Club 366, .
