Woman Who Died in Snohomish County Jail Identified

Kathleen Ann Swann-Deutsch, 51, died Friday night, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.

A 51-year-old inmate who died in the Snohomish County jail July 26 has been identified as a Woodinville woman.

Kathleen Ann Swann-Deutsch, 51, died Friday night, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner. Her cause and manner of death is pending.

The Everett Herald reports that Swann-Deutsch had a blood alcohol content of nearly four times the legal limit when she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on July 24.

She had been housed in the jail’s medical unit since being booked on July 24 and corrections staff were checking her status "at least every hour since the inmate had been booked," a news release said. When staff arrived at her bedside around 10:30 p.m. on July 26, they found her not breathing and unresponsive. CPR was reportedly started immediately and paramedics were called. Swann-Deutsch was pronounced dead at the scene.

She is the eighth inmate to die in the facility since 2010, according to The Seattle Times. Before this report, national corrections experts were planning to visit the jail later this year in part because of inmate deaths.
