Woman Dies After Car Flips Over Embankment, Lands in Maplewood Club

Susan Malloy was a Lynnwood resident.

A 78-year-old woman from Lynnwood has died from her injuries after her car flew off a 10-foot embankment at 196th Street SW and 88th Avenue West in Edmonds.

The King Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death of Susan Malloy, who was the sole occupant in the car on Dec. 4 that flipped over and came to rest upside down in the parking lot of the Maplewood Rock and Gem Club.

Firefighters cut through the wreckage to free the driver, who was seriously injured at that point.

Malloy was taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she died from her injuries.

According to the Edmonds Police Department, witnesses reported that the woman was driving erratically before the crash and she may have had medical issues.
