At the convenience store, officers found a 20-year-old Seattle man bleeding profusely from a deep laceration to his right forearm. Meanwhile, officers arriving at the motel discovered an apparent burglary of a motel room.

Glass had shattered from a window, and officers could see a broken chair on the floor. There was also a large puddle of fresh blood.

With help from a Lynnwood Police K-9 unit, officers moved from the scene of the burglary directly to the bleeding man at the convenience store. Along the way, Lynnwood police dog Vader sniffed out valuable property hidden in the bushes that was later found to be stolen from the motel room.

Investigating officers determined that the suspect broke out the window in an effort to get the goods. As he entered the motel room through the shattered window, he stepped on a chair just inside.

The chair apparently collapsed beneath his considerable weight, and he fell back against the broken remnants of the glass pane.

Despite suffering a deep laceration, which later required hospital treatment, the suspect proceeded through the motel room. However, after fleeing only a short distance on foot, the suspect realized he needed emergency medical attention.

So he called 911.

The suspect was arrested for burglary and later booked at the Snohomish County Jail. Police recovered all property stolen during the crime.
