Robbery Attempt at Shoreline Espresso Stand Shakes Up Barista

Police say the suspect fits the description -- a clean-cut, white man in his twenties -- of a robber who hit a tanning salon in Edmonds on Wednesday.

A robbery attempt at a Shoreline espresso stand Thursday - by a suspect similar in description to one who robbed a tanning salon in Edmonds Wednesday, has employee and neighbors on edge, KIRO TV reports.

Barista Jenni Clark foiled the robbery attempt at Gourmet Latte (659 NW Richmond Beach Rd) at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday by backing away from the window and hitting a silent alarm.

"I had no intentions of giving him the money because I didn't want to walk toward that gun," Claar told KIRO, adding that she thought of her husband and children in the minutes after the incident.

The man sped away, and police arrived quickly. They said the attempt was similar to the robbery Wednesday at Tropical Tan in Edmonds. The suspect is described as a white, clean cut male in his twenties driving a white, four-door Chevy Malibu.

On Wednesday, May 29, at about 8:30 a.m., Edmonds Police responded to the business Tropical Tan located in the 9700 block of Edmonds Way on the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.  The suspect reportedly entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the employee.  No one was hurt in the Edmonds incident and the suspect was seen leaving in a small, white vehicle from the parking lot, onto Edmonds Way and then he immediately took a right turn onto 97 obtain some distant surveillance photographs of the car leaving the scene and would like to put them out to the public with a request for assistance (see attached photos).

The suspect in this case is described as a white male in his late teens, approximately 5’11”, medium build with short blond hair.  The suspect was wearing a red baseball hat, red plaid short-sleeve button down shirt, blue jeans and was described as being “clean cut”.

If anyone has any information about these robberies, Edmonds Police would like them to call the department, 911 or the tip line at 425-771-0212.
