Fire Department Calls: Scooter Down at Sixth and Bell, Motorcycle Down at Ferry

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to more than 400 calls the week of Aug. 18-24.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 404 calls the week of August 18-24: 291 emergency medical aid calls, 27 motor vehicle collisions, 32 fires, four service calls, two natural gas leaks, one technical rescue, one carbon monoxide alarm and 26 automatic fire alarms.

Aug. 18

COLLISION: At 10:52 a.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision at Locust Way and Magnolia Road east of Lynnwood. One person sustained minor injuries and was taken to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital for treatment.

COLLISION: At 1:16 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a two-car collision at 220th Street SW and Highway 99 in Edmonds.

COLLISION:  At 4:57 p.m., a four-car collision was reported at 164th Street SW and Alderwood Mall Parkway north of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported one patient with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Aug. 19

RESCUE: At 10:41 a.m., firefighters rescued a man trapped in a car that went over an embankment in the 11700 14th Ave. W south of Everett. The man was uninjured.

KITCHEN FIRE:  At 6:12 p.m., a fire was reported at an apartment in the 6100 block of Albion Way in Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters arrived to find food burning in a pot on the stovetop. The fire did not extend to the building. Firefighters transported a resident of a neighboring apartment unit to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Aug. 20

HOUSE FIRE:  At 1:27 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire in an abandoned house in the 15500 block of 48th Avenue W north of Lynnwood. The house was engulfed in flames when they arrived. The fire destroyed about half of the house, which was already in a state of disrepair from previous fires and vandalism. Several juveniles were seen leaving the area at the time of the fire. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the fire as arson.

COLLISION:  At 1:44 p.m., a motorcycle collision was reported at the ferry terminal holding lanes in downtown Edmonds. Firefighters transported the injured motorcyclist to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

HOUSE FIRE:  At 3:38 p.m., a house fire was reported in the 15100 block of 45th Place West north of Lynnwood. Four women evacuated safely after a neighbor alerted them to the fire. The south end of the house was engulfed in flames and there was fire in the attic when firefighters arrived. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Damage to the home was estimated at $200,000.  The fire appeared to be accidental and the cause is under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal.

Aug. 23

CAR FIRE. At 1:50 p.m., firefighters extinguished a car fire in the 17700 block of 11th Pl. W north of Lynnwood.

COLLISION. At 4:22 p.m., a man on a motorized scooter was struck by a car at Sixth Avenue North and Bell Street in Edmonds. Firefighters transported the man to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION. At 3:01 p.m., a man injured in a collision in the 15100 block of Ash Way was transported by firefighters to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

Aug. 24

COLLISION. At 6:32 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a rollover collision on southbound SR 525 north of Alderwood Mall Parkway.
