Police: Man Set Fire to Lynnwood Hotel Room Because He Believed Satan Was Present

A 52-year-old man allegedly set fire to a Lynnwood hotel because he believed Satan was in his room, The Herald reports.

Police say a 52-year-old Redmond man set blankets on fire in a Lynnwood hotel room Friday because he believed Satan was present in the room.

As The Herald newspaper reported, the man, who was not identified, was staying at The Days Inn on 196th Street Southwest when police say he set a fire in his room at about 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Fire sprinklers contained the fire to one room, but about six rooms were damaged, along with guests' personal property.

The man was being held at Snohomish County Jail on investigation of first-degree arson, the newspaper reported.
