Plush Comfort: Edmonds Seniors Collect Teddy Bears for Firefighters

Stuffed animals are used to comfort children on emergency calls.

Residents of Prestige Care and Rehabilitation in Edmonds have collected more than 100 teddy bears and stuffed animals for Snohomish County Fire District 1 crews to give to children in emergency situations.

Firefighters from Edmonds Fire Station 16 visited the facility on Feb. 14 to thank residents and accept their donations on behalf of Fire District 1, which provides fire and emergency medical service in Edmonds.

“We appreciate this donation from Prestige Care residents,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Fire District 1. “We carry teddy bears on all our engines and medic units to comfort children we see on emergency calls. Community donations make this possible.”
