New Website on Regional Fire Service
Citizens can stay up to date on the joint fire service that Edmonds and eight other jurisdictions in South Snohomish County may create.
A new website provides South Snohomish County residents with information about the proposed regional fire and emergency medical service.
Citizens can visit www.rfa-planning.org to find up to date news on planning for a regional fire authority. Nine jurisdictions in South Snohomish County, including Edmonds, want to join together for fire service.
The website will post meeting information, planning documents and presentations.

βThe website can be valuable tool for anyone who wants to learn more about RFAs, the planning process and the key issues being discussed,β said Edmonds Mayor Mike Cooper, chair of the RFA Planning Committee.
The jurisdictions talking about a regional fire authority include the cities of Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace and Mukilteo; the town of Woodway; and Snohomish County Fire Districts 1 and 7.

The regional fire authority planning committee has been meeting on the first Wednesday of every month since March. Over the next two years, the committee plans to gather the information needed to present the option to voters in all of the participating cities.
The next planning committee meeting will be Aug. 3, 6-8 p.m., at Rosehill Community Center, Point Elliott Room, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo. All meetings are open to the public.
