New Snohomish County Sheriff, Command Staff Sworn In

After new Snohomish County Sheriff Ty Trenary was sworn in by Judge Downes July 8, 2013, Trenary administered the oath of office to Undersheriff Brent Speyer and Bureau Chief Rachelle Heinzen on July 9, 2013.

Undersheriff Speyer is a 20 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and most recently served as the agency’s investigations and Office of Professional Accountability lieutenant.  He and his wife, Marci, live in Lake Stevens.  As Undersheriff, he is responsible for overseeing policy development, administering the agency budget, and advising the Sheriff in personnel matters.

Chief Heinzen, who will command the Sheriff’s Office field operations, recently completed her assignment as Commander at the Basic Law Enforcement Academy at the Criminal Justice Training Center in Burien.  A 16 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, Chief Heinzen and her husband, SCSO Sgt. Barry Ruchty, live on Camano Island.
