The investigation into last Saturday’s officer-involved shooting in Edmonds continues, according to police.

Detectives have confirmed that the 27 year-old suspect, who lives in Edmonds, is in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center. He has a history of mental illness, police say. Assault charges are expected when he is released from the hospital. Patch generally does not name suspects until they have been criminally charged.

The investigation has revealed that the suspect made no threats to the citizens who called 911 which precipitated the incident. According to witnesses, when Edmonds Police Department officers arrived, they gave several verbal commands for the suspect to drop his weapon, a .22 rifle. The suspect did not comply and, at one point, leveled the weapon at officers.  Officers fired multiple shots, striking the suspect.
