Lynnwood Police Seek Witnesses to Fatal Friday Night Crash

A woman suspected of being under the influence of drugs T-boned a van May 24th around 8 p.m., resulting in the death of a 72-year-old man.

Lynnwood Police are looking for witnesses to an alleged Vehicular Homicide after a 72-year-old Lynnwood area man was killed in a two-car collision Friday night, May 24.

A 42-year-old Snohomish County area woman, who is a convicted felon and suspected of being under the influence of drugs, T-boned the victim’s van in the intersection of 44th Ave. W. and 212th St. SW on the border of Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

Just after 8 p.m. a Lynnwood Officer discovered the suspect vehicle near 200th St. SW and Highway 99 in Lynnwood which had a woman and a man in it who were both convicted felons. The man, a 55 year-old Snohomish County area man, also had a felony warrant out for his arrest and the female had two misdemeanor warrants out for her arrest.

When the officer attempted to stop them, the female driver sped away eastbound down 196th St. SW. The officer pursued the suspects for about two miles when the white van she was driving at a high rate of speed, crashed into the victim vehicle, also a white van.

The 72-year-old victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center and succumbed to his critical injuries about two hours later.The male passenger in the suspect vehicle was also transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

The female suspect driver was transported to Swedish Edmonds Hospital where she was treated and released and is now in custody at the Lynnwood Jail. She has been arrested and will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of Vehicular Homicide among other crimes.

Lynnwood Police closed the intersection of 212th St. SW and 44th Ave. W in all directions while they continued to investigate.
