Lightning Shatters Tree, Awakens Maplewood Neighborhood

No injuries or property damage reported.

Friday's thunder and lightning came to ground in Edmonds' Maplewood neighborhood.

At around 9 a.m., late-sleepers in the vicinity of Maplewood School were awakened by a deafening thunderbolt and the sounds of splitting wood.

A large Douglas fir in the 200 block of 88th Avenue West was hit and shattered.

No injuries or property damage have been reported.
