Human Remains Near Snohomish ID'd

Teen had been shot and missing for more than a year.

Remains found near Snohomish have been identified as belonging to a Burlington teenager who had died from multiple gunshot wounds.

On Monday, two people a walking their dog in the area found the remains near the 16000 block of Dubuque Road and notified the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff's office confirmed that the remains are of 18-year-old Fernando Mendoza from Burlington.

Mendoza was reported missing by family members to Skagit County Sheriff’s Office last July.

Detectives from both the Skagit and Snohomish County sheriff’s offices believe they have identified and are searching for one suspect in the case.
