4 Suspects Arrested Afer Shots Heard at Yost Park Early Wednesday

Edmonds K-9 helps root out one of the suspects, who had fled to City Park.

Edmonds Police arrested four adult suspects today at Yost Park, where they had responded to calls of gun shots.

At about 3 a.m. Wednesday, an officer found the suspects at the entrance of Yost Park on Bowdoin Way, said Assistant Chief Gerry Gannon. Two fled, and two were taken into custody.

An Edmonds police dog tracked the suspects all the way downtown to City Park on Third Avenue South. Before entering the park, Officer Andrew Mehl announced over a megaphone that he was about to release his police dog, Kira, into the park.

That was all it took for one of the suspects to come out of the woods, where police took him into custody without incident. After a thorough search of City Park, with an assist from a Lynnwood K-9 dog, police did not find the suspect.

Edmonds police, however, did locate a pistol hidden under a bush in the park. During their investigation, officers identified the fourth suspect. They took him into custody from his home.
