Fire Department Responses: Scooter, Car Collide on Third Avenue North

Snohomish County Fire District One makes 326 calls the week of Dec. 8-14.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 326 calls the week of Dec. 8-14: 277 emergency medical aid calls, 15 motor vehicle collisions, 14 fires, seven service calls, two gas leaks and 11 automatic fire alarms.

Dec. 8

FIRE:  At 1:52 p.m., a small fire was reported at a house in the 8600 block of Bowdoin Way in Edmonds. The homeowner told firefighters that some rags on a range had caught fire, but that he thought he had put them out. Firefighters found smoldering rags and heavy smoke damage inside the residence. They used fans to clear away the smoke and evaluated the homeowner for smoke exposure.

Dec. 9

COLLISION:  At 6:15 p.m., a person riding a scooter was struck by a car in the 500 block of Third Avenue North in Edmonds. The person was lying on the ground but conscious with no visible injuries when firefighters arrived.  Firefighters transported the man to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Dec. 10

COLLISION:  At 8:11 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision reported at 220th Street SW and 92nd Avenue West in Edmonds.  Firefighters transported one person with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION:  At 11:29 p.m., a car struck a parked vehicle in the 8500 block of Main Street in Edmonds.  The moving car suffered heavy front-end damage. One occupant was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Dec. 12

FIRE:  At 12:46 p.m., firefighters responded to a chimney fire at a house in the 17100 block of Ash Way north of Lynnwood. A passerby observed smoke coming from the siding next to the chimney and alerted the homeowner. The fire was contained to an exterior wall adjacent to the chimney and damage was estimated at $1,000.

Dec. 13

COLLISION:  At 4:58 p.m., a two-car, head-on collision occurred at 36th Avenue W and Larch Way east of Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters transported two patients with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
