Fire Department Responses: Pedestrian Hit By Car at the Fountain

Snohomish County Fire District One makes 423 calls the week of Dec. 15-21.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 423 calls the week of Dec. 15-21: 340 emergency medical aid calls, 32 motor vehicle collisions, 18 fires, nine service calls, one natural gas leak, one hazardous materials call and 22 automatic fire alarms.

Dec. 15

COLLISION: At 11:42 a.m., the driver of a car that crashed into a rockery in the 8700 block of Talbot Road in Edmonds was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION:  At 5:05 p.m., firefighters responded to a car that crashed into a telephone pole while travelling southbound on Highway 99 at the on-ramp to SR 525 north of Lynnwood. The driver, a male in his 40s, died at the scene.

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY CAR:  At 5:16 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a car at the intersection of 128th Street SE and Third Avenue SE south of Everett.  Another car crashed into Engine 11 as it was arriving on the scene. No one was injured in either incident.

ELECTRICAL FIRE:  At 10:44 p.m., an electrical problem caused several small fires at a home in the 19000 block of Dellwood Drive in Edmonds. Firefighters extinguished a small exterior fire that damaged an area of siding. Inside, they discovered smoldering wall outlets and power strips. No one was injured. Damage is estimated at $1,000.

Dec. 18

GARAGE FIRE: At 2:48 a.m., a smoke alarm alerted the occupants of a fire in the garage of their duplex in the 22500 block of 93rd Place W in Edmonds. An 81-year-old woman and her 50-year-old son escaped without injury and were evaluated for smoke inhalation. Firefighters contained the fire to the garage. Investigators determined the fire was started by a misplaced cigarette. Damage to the duplex, garage and contents is estimated at $45,000.

COLLISION:  At 10:02 p.m., a two-car collision was reported at 220th Street SW and 84th Avenue W in Edmonds. Firefighters transported both drivers to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

December 19

CHIMNEY FIRE: At 1:01 a.m., a fire was reported in the 3900 block of 205th Place SW east of Lynnwood. Embers from a chimney fire ignited a small blaze in the crawl space vapor barrier of the home. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

Dec. 21

PEDESTRIAN HIT BY CAR: At 5:15 p.m., a pedestrian in his 50s was hit by a car at Fifth Ave. S and Main Street in Edmonds. He sustained minor injuries and transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
