Fire Department Responses in the Last Week

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 324 calls the week of May 19-25. They included 271 emergency medical aid calls, 14 motor vehicle collisions, nine fires, nine service calls, two natural gas leaks and 19 automatic fire alarms.

 May 20

COLLISION:  At 1:41 p.m., a collision was reported at 156th Street SW and Highway 99 near the House of Clocks north of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported one patient with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

HOUSE FIRE:  At 7:09 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire at an abandoned house in the 4200 block of 132nd St. SE near Mill Creek.  The house was engulfed in flames. No one was injured. The fire destroyed the house.

 May 21

SCUBA DIVING FATALITY:  At 12:33 p.m., firefighters responded to Brackett’s Landing Park north of the Edmonds ferry dock to treat a man in his mid-50’s who lost consciousness while scuba diving with his adult son at the underwater park. The son pulled his father to shore and started CPR. Firefighters continued CPR on the beach, but could not revive the man, who died at the scene. See the story Patch ran on the incident

 May 22

COLLISION:  At 3:36 p.m., a car hit a telephone pole at 238th Place SW and 76th Avenue West in Edmonds.  Firefighters transport the driver to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

 May 24

COOKING FIRE:  At 2:55 p.m., a kitchen fire was reported at a home in the 4000 block of 219th Street SW in Mountlake Terrace.  The fire was out when firefighters arrived. The resident explained the fire started in an unattended pot of grease on her stovetop. As she attempted to carry the pot outside, she splashed hot oil onto the floor, rug and back deck as well as onto her hand and foot. Firefighters transported the woman to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital for treatment of her burns.

BRUSH FIRE:  At 7:57 p.m., firefighters responded to a brush fire at the 11000 block of 11th Place West south of Everett.  It was determined that the blaze was caused by fireworks.

 May 25

COLLISION:  At 2:11 p.m., a 3-car accident was reported at the 18200 block of North Road near the new Lynnwood High School.  One person received minor injuries and was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION:  At 2:43 p.m., an accident was reported on southbound I-5 south of the 128th Street SW exit in Everett.  Firefighters transported one patient to the Swedish/Mill Creek Emergency Room.

COLLISION:  At 6:33 p.m., a car collided with a bicyclist at 225th Street SW and 44th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace.  The bicyclist received minor injuries and was disoriented.  He was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital for treatment.
